Welcoming Dashiell Anthony San Filippo

Daddy shot this video shortly after Dash was born; March 7, 09 at 11:11pm. Dash weighed in a whopping 8 pounds 12 ounces. It’s not a wonder momma had a hard time getting around that last month! Note the song “In My Life” playing in the background towards the end of the video. No, we didn’t plan that. The ipod was on shuffle.

It’s only been 12 days, but it’s amazing how much he has changed! He lost a full pound right after birth, as it took a while for my milk to come in, but now that it has, he is gaining steadily.

Daddy has taken two weeks off work and I’m amazed that it’s almost over! What have we done?

  • Stared at Dahiell in amazement.
  • Practiced getting the car seat in and out of the car. WITH a baby in it.
  • Practiced getting the stroller together and adjusted properly. WITH a baby in it.
  • Practiced getting in and out of the house with the baby, the dog and all the equipment that entails. So far, haven’t forgotten anything too important, but haven’t remembered everything at once either.
  • Laundry. Lots and Lots of Laundry, even though, thankfully, he doesn’t spit up very much.
  • A few of his favorite things? Boobs. He will launch himself towards them. He has an amazingly strong neck and can, at 12 days old, maneuver himself to the boob. Should you not be ready for the sideways launch, well then. Maybe you shouldn’t be holding him. His attempts to nurse from Daddy have been greatly disappointing, although, highly entertaining. For us anyway. Yes, we are terrible parents.

Least favorite thing? The bassinet. The quickest way to wake him up is to put him in the bassinet. He will sleep for hours on the bed, or, mere moments in the bassinet. This has made night times rather rough. Thankfully we have a large bed.

We will be adding more pictures to the flickr account and more movies to the youtube account as time allows. There are TONS of them.
